Hong Kong, Apr 17, 2026 – Asia Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) is honoured to be part of the team behind the Trunk Road T2 & Cha Kwo Ling Tunnel Project, recently crowned with the HKIBIM Awards 2025 – Grand Awards (Mega Projects).
Spanning 3.2km, this critical corridor forms a key link of Route 6, seamlessly connecting Kowloon East and West. Delivered under a compressed programme and stringent safety and technical requirements, the project harnessed advanced BIM and digital engineering not only to enhance construction efficiency, but also to establish a robust data foundation supporting decades of operation and maintenance.
Beyond construction, our Project Manager, Dr. Taj Ishola, highlighted that this project serves as a catalyst for industry‑wide digitalisation. Key replicable innovations include:
🔹 Progressive as-built BIM for TBM tunnelling — enhancing precision, traceability and repeatability
🔹 AI- and robotics-powered 3S Tunnel Defect Inspector — enabling safer and more efficient inspections
🔹 Integrated 4D/5D BIM within a Common Data Environment — strengthening programme optimisation, cost control and ESG performance
