Hong Kong, August 20, 2026 – Asia Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) has been appointed by the Civil Engineering and Development Department (CEDD) of the HKSAR Government as Lead Consultant for a pilot study exploring the use of automation and digital technologies to transform geotechnical works design optimisation and verification.
The Pilot Study on Application of Robotic Process Automation on Geotechnical Works Design Optimisation and Verification – Feasibility Study will examine how emerging technologies can be applied to enhance the efficiency, accuracy and traceability of geotechnical engineering workflows.
Through the integration of Robotic Process Automation (RPA), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Building Information Modelling (BIM), Geographic Information System (GIS) and digital engineering solutions, AIS will support CEDD’s Geotechnical Engineering Office (GEO) in streamlining design optimisation, automated checking, Open BIM submissions, digital ground investigation planning and smarter geotechnical workflows for Hong Kong’s public works ecosystem.
“This appointment recognises AIS’s established strengths in digital engineering and geotechnical design. By combining automation with sound engineering judgement, we will work with CEDD to advance Design Optimisation and Design Verification — improving efficiency, accuracy and traceability across geotechnical delivery,” said Dickson Law, Co-Managing Director.
The pilot study will explore how advanced digital technologies can be embedded into geotechnical design processes to reduce repetitive manual tasks, strengthen design verification and enable more consistent and traceable engineering workflows. It will also examine opportunities to enhance interoperability and information exchange across different stages of geotechnical design and submission.
Through this appointment, AIS will bring together its geotechnical engineering expertise and digital capabilities to support CEDD in evaluating practical, scalable approaches to the wider digitalisation of geotechnical works. The initiative reflects a shared ambition to enhance productivity and quality while supporting the continued transformation of Hong Kong’s public works delivery.
