Project Description
Located within the Punggol Digital District, the Singapore Institute of Technology New Campus occupies a total land area of approximately 91,000 sq m (9.1 hectares). This new development comprises 10 buildings, including four Academic Blocks, an Administration Block, an Auditorium, a Library, a Multi-Purpose Hall, a Hatchery, laboratories, food courts and amenities.
Our Role
AIS-Hill was the Project Manager for this significant development from inception to completion. We developed a detailed programme for development and were involved in design collaborations with the Singapore Institute of Technology, the Ministry of Education, JTC and all the end users. AIS-Hill also supported the government funding process for this significant development. AIS led the entire tender process for the main contracts, all nominated sub-contractors, and all forward works.
Outcomes & Benefits
The new SIT campus was designed as a smart and sustainable University. Powered by the Internet of Things, the entire campus-wide sensor network system was automated, and electricity is generated using a multi-energy MicroGrid System.
Industry partners leverage SIT as a “living lab” using the open innovation ecosystem to pilot and test the prototypes in a real-life environment. SIT new campus will be a campus that is porous and interconnected and facilitates interaction between learning, industry and community.
Best Practices & Lessons Learnt
The adoption of advanced information technologies such as BIM 360 and BIM Modelling has enhanced collaboration with greater speed and efficiency. It has enabled clearer understanding with fewer errors, and ensured more systematic, streamlined processes for design and drawing approvals, variation orders, change management, file transmission, as well as data storage and record-keeping.
