Project Description
The Putrajaya Complex (PjC) project features a 60-metre-high stainless arch, which exemplifies the contemporary interpretation of traditional Islamic architecture design. Built as a complex, it serves as the Headquarters of Perbadanan Putrajaya, complete with interconnected spaces.
Our Role
As the project’s Civil, Structural and Geotechnical Engineer, Asia Infrastructure Solutions works synergistically to design a sustainable structure for the administration building and iconic gateway. Our expertise lies in providing innovative engineering solutions and designs that are customised to meet the demands of specific projects. AIS manages each stage of the project lifecycle, including comprehensive design, construction support, and concept and pre-feasibility development.
Challenges & Solutions
AIS emphasises balancing form and function in architectural features, which demands collaboration between structural engineers, architects and material specialists. To ensure the stability, durability, and maintain the aesthetic appeal of the 60-meter-high arch design, we amalgamated the use of stainless steel structure.
With the challenges in tunnelling and foundation design posed by the site’s geological formations, AIS’s geotechnical engineers play a crucial role in the progression of PjC Complex. To mitigate risks, we carefully controlled ground loss and pressure fluctuation during tunnelling.
Clients Outcomes & Benefits
The Putrajaya Corporation Complex, also known as the Headquarters of Perbadanan Putrajaya, serves as a pivotal hub for administrative functions in Putrajaya. The complex represents a sustainable development idea that seeks to make Putrajaya a resource-efficient, “low-carbon” city. By adopting green building standards, the complex helps to lower its environmental effect and carbon emissions.
Putrajaya’s strategic centrality positions it as a magnet for businesses, institutions, and people. PjC Complex fosters economic opportunities, attracts investment, and contributes to the city’s competitiveness. As a hub for administrative activities, the complex encourages intellectual exchange and collaboration. With the construction of the PjC Complex, interconnected spaces for interaction, knowledge sharing, and community engagement support social inclusion.
The completion of the PjC Complex represents a shift from a mono-centric to a poly-centric city. Our design leverages existing green and water features, creating a balanced urban environment that enhances quality of life.
