Project Description
This is the first LRT project in the state of Penang, Malaysia. This project is part of the Penang Transport Master Plan and funded by the Federal Government of Malaysia. The aim of the project is to enhance accessibility and connectivity, reduce congestion and improve the living standards of the Penang community.
The alignment spans approximately 26.7km, starting at the Penang South Reclamation (PSR) Island A and terminating at Penang Sentral. The Government of Malaysia has appointed MRT Mutiara Sdn Bhd (MRTM), a subsidiary of Mass Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRTC), as the Project Development and Asset Owner for this project. The first segment of this Penang LRT project (the Mutiara Line – “MTL”) has been awarded to SRS Consortium as the civil works contractor.
Our Role
SRS Consortium appointed Asiai Infrastructure Solutions (AIS) as the Lead Consultant and Detailed Design Consultant for:
- Southern Viaduct Package covering the crossing from the Main Island into the Reclaimed Island and alignment within the Reclaimed Island.
- Elevated Station in the Reclaimed Island.
- Depot in the Reclaimed Island.
Services we are providing include Lead Consultancy, Delivery Management, Depot Planning, Geotechnical & Foundation, Structural Engineering and Mechanical & Electrical Engineering.
Our Delivery Strategy
- Assignment of a Key industry leader to take on the overall leadership role as Project Director.
- A dedicated Multidisciplinary Design and Delivery Management team is established with support from individual technical leads, subconsultants & specialist support as required.
