Project Description

Mat Daling Road Phase 3 is a continuation of Phase 1 and Phase 2, forming part of the Government’s initiative to establish a strategic road connection between Jerantut, Pahang and Dungun, Terengganu. Stretching approximately 52.5 km, the project comprises Phase 3A, a 12.5 km section from Kg. Pasir Raja to the Pahang–Terengganu border, and Phase 3B, a 40 km section from Kg. Mat Daling to the state border.

Traversing the rugged and mountainous terrain of the Ulu Tembeling region, the project includes the construction of seven bridges and multiple culvert crossings, with the alignment passing through areas of pristine and environmentally sensitive forest. The challenging terrain and surrounding natural environment required careful consideration in the planning and development of the road.

Upon completion, the project will provide an important connection between Pahang and Terengganu, improving accessibility and connectivity between the two states while supporting the communities and areas along its route.

Our Role

Asia Infrastructure Solutions Sdn Bhd (AIS) provided multidisciplinary design, including BIM and supervision services, for the Mat Daling Road Phase 3B project. Our team brought together technical expertise, practical engineering solutions and close stakeholder coordination to address the project’s challenging mountainous terrain, environmental considerations and operational requirements.

The project journey was marked by an extended suspension due to the Government’s descoping exercise to support tiger conservation and forest preservation initiatives. Despite these challenges, the AIS team demonstrated remarkable resilience, adaptability and commitment, successfully responding to changing project requirements while maintaining high standards of quality, safety and engineering excellence.

The project’s successful completion stands as a testament to the team’s professionalism, dedication, and collaborative spirit, and reflects AIS’s commitment to delivering sustainable infrastructure solutions even in the most challenging environments.
