About the Project

The project was intended to extend both the Kelana Jaya Line and Ampang Line of the LRT network. The extensions aimed to improve connectivity and accessibility within Kuala Lumpur and its surrounding areas. The new Kelana Jaya LRT Line Extension begins from Kelana Jaya station and ends at Putra Heights, covering a distance of 17 km consisting of an elevated guideway and 12 nos. elevated stations. The new Ampang LRT Line Extension begins from Sri Petaling station and ends at Putra Heights, covering a distance of 17.7 km. It consists of an elevated guideway and 13 elevated stations.

Client Need

The client required structural and geotechnical independent design for the foundation of various structures, such as the stations and bridge approaches for the LRT extension line.

As an independent check engineer overseeing the construction of elevated stations for the Kelana Jaya and Ampang Line LRT extension project, AIS played a crucial role in ensuring the structural integrity and safety of the stations, especially as the new line was constructed above existing railway lines. Our responsibilities included reviewing the structural arrangement of the stations to identify any potential issues and providing suggestions to mitigate risks and optimise construction methods.
