About the Project

The Liquid Bulk Terminal (LBT) 4A is the latest Jetty project completed for Westports (M) Sdn Bhd. This design-build project located in Pulau Indah, Klang, features a 265 m long trestle with pipe racks connected to a central platform with state-of-the-art berthing and mooring facilities, and a comprehensive fire-fighting system using seawater that meets the highest safety standards.

The jetty accommodates vessels up to 113,000 deadweight tonnage (DWT) with an overall vessel length of 250 meters. Once fully operational, the jetty will handle a range of products, including non-dangerous goods such as palm oil, biofuel, etc.

Our Role

As the Principal Submitting Person, our responsibilities included the preparation of the civil, structural, geotechnical, mechanical and electrical designs for various structural elements including trestles, platforms, mooring dolphins, and fire pump platforms.

Our efforts were instrumental in achieving several notable milestones:

  • Record-Breaking Construction: We implemented a 54-meter single longest spun pile for a jetty, setting a national record in Malaysia at the time of pile installation.
  • Global Standards and Collaboration: The project featured top-tier berthing, mooring, and fire-fighting equipment sourced internationally, reflecting our commitment to global standards of excellence.
  • Regulatory Innovation: The fire-fighting system, utilizing a sea water pump method housed on the fire pump platform, initially fell outside local regulatory standards. We secured the necessary consent from the federal Fire and Rescue Department, demonstrating our ability to meet and rigorous safety and regulatory requirements.
